How Laika Built a Brighter Future Through Education

Laika Malimbilimbi is a police officer with Zambia Police, serving at a police station in Luapula Province. Her role is clear and purposeful: to protect lives, protect property, maintain law and order, and arrest offenders.

But Laika believes her life could have looked very different without the opportunity she received through supporters like you. 

For Laika, education opened the door to an unexpected career, and gave her independence, confidence, and the chance to become what she describes as “a family pillar.” Her family are proud of how far she has come, and she is already thinking about how she can give back to others. 

In the future, Laika hopes to work for a large organisation and continue building a life of impact. She also dreams of opening an orphanage, inspired by the support she received.

“I really need to help other people with the little that I’ll have in the future,” she says. That commitment has already begun. Laika is currently sponsoring a boy through school, helping him access the same kind of opportunity that transformed her own life.

Her story is a powerful reminder of what happens when young people are given the chance to learn, grow and lead. Through education, Laika has not only changed her own future, she is helping to change the future of others too.
