When You Educate a Girl, You Change the World

We believe that educating a girl doesn’t just change her story, it changes everyone’s.

Educating a girl changes more than her future

At Pestalozzi International, we work with two girls for every boy, recognising that in many underserved communities, girls face the greatest barriers to education — and the greatest potential to create change.
Every story begins differently - but each one carries the same spark: a chance to learn, grow, and give back.
This month, we celebrate three remarkable young women who represent the past, present, and future of our global community.

A New Beginning in Ladakh – Stanzin Zomskit

For 12-year-old Stanzin from Phey Thang, a remote village in Ladakh, India, the path to education has not been easy.
After her father’s passing, her mother worked tirelessly to provide for the family, growing barley and peas on their small plot of land and hoping for a brighter future for her daughter.
Stanzin’s hard work, curiosity, and strong academic performance earned her a Pestalozzi scholarship, opening the door to a world of opportunity. She joins our Village in India this year - bringing with her not just her dreams, but her mother’s hopes for a life defined by possibility rather than limitation.
Her journey is just beginning, but it’s one that education will illuminate every step of the way.

Creating Change in Zambia – The Watchers Club

Juliette and Nelly are proving that leadership starts early. Concerned about waste and its impact on their community, they launched an environmental initiative that turns recycling into real-world change.
Through their project, they collected plastic bottles across campus and sold them to a local recycling company - using the funds to support a nearby orphanage with clothes and essential supplies.
What began as a school project has become a lesson in empathy and sustainability. Juliette and Nelly remind us that education is most powerful when it inspires action.

Full Circle in Nepal – Sabita Bhandari

For Sabita Bhandari, the Pestalozzi journey has come full circle. Once a student at our Indian Village, she is now part of the Pestalozzi Nepal team, helping to guide new generations of students.
Armed with a degree in Finance and a Master’s in Marketing, Sabita has been with the Nepalese Village since its founding in 2016 - supporting education, management, and sponsorships with quiet dedication. She also gives back as a regular donor herself, believing deeply that education creates ripple effects that uplift whole communities.
Her story embodies the heart of Pestalozzi: when one child is educated, many lives are changed.

Together, Stanzin, Juliette, Nelly  and Sabita show the power of a single opportunity to spark lifelong change. Every gift to Pestalozzi International helps create more stories like theirs - stories of hope, courage, and connection across continents.
