Where Learning and Opportunity Led Judith
From Mayukwayukwa Refugee Camp to a full university scholarship in Costa Rica.
Judith Chikumbu joined Pestalozzi at 11, selected into our programme from her community in Zambia.
At Pestalozzi International, we intentionally identify and support young people with potential from communities where access to quality education is limited - including refugee settlements and disadvantaged rural areas.
My biggest dream is to have a big farm back in the camp so I offer employment employment to my fellow youths.
Judith
Today, she is preparing to pursue a degree in Agricultural Science at Earth University (Universidad EARTH), on a 100% scholarship from the Mastercard Foundation.
For Judith, this opportunity is not an endpoint - it is a beginning. Her ambition is clear: to return to Mayukwayukwa Refugee Camp and build a large farm that creates employment for young people in her community.
This is the ripple effect of education for life. When one young person is supported to grow, they carry seeds of knowledge, confidence and leadership back into their community - and those seeds multiply.
